Hogy miért érdemes próbavásárlóval tesztelni az üzletet? Mert az elégedetlen vásárlók 96%-a sohasem reklamál – csakhogy legközelebb más kereksedőt fog előnyben részesíteni, és egyes számítások szerint tízszer annyiba kerül új vevőt szerezni, mint egy régit megtartani.

A folyamat a következő: Az ügyfél vezető munkatársai és a próbavásárlást lebonyolító cég egyeztetése során összeáll a próbavásárlások forgatókönyve, majd kiválasztják az adott termék, szolgáltatás mintavásárlóit, akik – mintha igazi érdeklődők lennének – megkeresik vagy felhívják az üzletet, ügyfélszolgálatot. A próbavásárlás nem piackutatási módszer, hanem menedzsment-segédeszköz, amely tiszta képet mutat arról, hogy milyen képe van cégéről a fogyszatóknak.

Az „álérdeklődők” csoportját úgynevezett szociodemográfiai jellemzők alapján állítják össze, hogy a felmérés valósághű legyen. Ezek a „titkos ügynökök” tipikus, mindennapos vásárlók benyomását keltve akár többször is tesztelik az alkalmazottakat. A lényeg, hogy a vezetők meggyőződhessenek róla: alkalmazottaik mindig az elvárt minőséget nyújtják.

A próbavásárlást lebonyolító cégek feladata az „akcióval” nem ér véget: a kapott adatokat kiértékelik, és sokszor tanulmányszerű iratot tesznek le a megrendelő asztalára.
